Crystal Palace vs Chelsea: Team news, match facts and prediction

Date:

Crystal Palace and Chelsea face off in a London derby on Tuesday evening with five rounds of the Premier League season remaining.

Chelsea looks in good shape to qualify for the Champions League, with Frank Lampard’s Blues sitting fourth in the table and a point off third-placed Leicester City.

As for their opponents, Roy Hodgson’s  Eagles were dreaming of Europe until a run of three straight defeats saw them tumble to 14th place – and while the threat of relegation is over, the south London club needs a strong finish to the campaign.

With Palace losing three on the spin, Chelsea will fancy their chances. The visitors should pick up three points but Lampard’s side have struggled for consistency this term, so it could be closer than first thought.

TEAM NEWS

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson must weigh up whether to recall Cheikhou Kouyate, Scott Dann, and James McCarthy after they were rested at Leicester.

Injured trio James Tomkins, Jeffrey Schlupp, and Martin Kelly are again expected to miss out.

Chelsea is likely to be without N’Golo Kante after he suffered a hamstring injury at the weekend.

Fellow midfielder Mateo Kovacic and defender Fikayo Tomori remain on the sidelines.
