Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo Mabona has  been missing in action from the political scene for some time now.

Her absence has been widely felt considering the fact  that for years she has been a vocal and strong ODM MP and a loyal supporter of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The MP was even bold enough to insult president Kenyatta in the days when he was an opponent of her party leader and later said that she had no apologies over that since her conscience directed her to do so.

That was back in 2017. She even went ahead and missed Kenyatta’s state of the nation address in parliament saying that she had better things to do including visiting a salon and being on social media.

When the handshake came, she gladly embraced it saying that it was the best thing that happened in the country. She has however been fiercely defending Azimio and ODM in general and bashing Tanga Tanga fellows starting with their leader William Ruto but of late her voice seems to have been suppressed.

Odhiambo’s silence can however be attributed to a number of things within ODM relating to the 2022 elections with one being sidelined in Raila’s campaign team despite her long lasting loyalty to Odinga.

Raila named his campaign team back in May but Odhiambo neither featured in the national campaign team nor the Nyanza one. The Nyanza team comprised of Kisii governor James Ongwae, ODM chairperson John Mbadi and Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati.

Aside from that, ODM’s decision to grant Gladys Wanga a direct ticket for the Homabay gubernatorial seat further worsened things because the two women are not best of friends and have been rivals for years now. In November 2018, she took to social media to publicly declare that she will not support Wanga’s gubernatorial bid.

Their feud was evident when Martha Karua, Azimio’s deputy presidential hopeful, visited the county recently. Odhiambo greeted and hugged Karua and ignored Wanga who had stood up to also offer her greetings.

The choice of Wanga for governor automatically placed her in the position of the queen of politics in Homabay living Odhiambo with more disappointments.
