Mchele Business Aside! How Peponi Road Criminals Trick Unsuspecting Motorists Before Robbing Them

Date:

An alarm has been raised on social media concerning criminal activities that are going on along Peponi Road in Nairobi.

Citizen TV journalist Seth Olale tweeted warning Kenyans especially motorists using the road against stopping to help any one who seems to have been injured.

According to him, criminals pretend to have been injured and whenever one stops to help, they pounce on him/her stealing their valuables

“Warning to Motorists using Peponi rd. They fake injuries then pounce on Good Samaritans,” he said.

“BEWARE Peponi road warning to motorists. Don’t STOP or attempt to assist pedestrians pretending to be lying injured on the ROADSIDE. They rob the motorist who stops. RETWEET to a friend for SAFETY,” read another tweet accompanied by the photos of people alleged to be the pretending victims of the accident,” read a separate tweet.

Some of the thugs are however said to have been arrested and taken to Spring valley police station later on Sunday.

Several netizens went ahead to share their experiences using the road.

“I stopped one day after seeing someone lying down mouth frothing, I drove by but after some distance I turned back. On scrutiny, the guy was having a epileptic bout and was in danger because he almost fell on the road. I stayed with him, waited and he regained consciousness,” Ole Bosco recounted.

“Last week I saw 2 young men on skaters attempting to open a car’s door on the same stretch,” Mohammed Salat shared.

“I Once saw a lady by the roadside having an epileptic episode while I was driving. I stopped the car a few meters from where she was. A few guys came to see what was going on and, I heard one say, “Amegongwa na ile gari imesimama pale” Long story short. Sitawahi simama kusaidia. I got into the car and drove away like a Bat outta hell. As for me, helping is not an option as I was almost labeled as the vilian nikienda ati kusaidia. Sitawahi tena,” Maina Waweru said.

“I have seen such cases of someone lying (mostly ladies) more than once along that peponi road. But I’ve never stopped to see through. Kumbe it’s a trap,” Mwenda said.
