There are quite a number of companies offering taxi services in Kenya. Such services have been warmly welcomed by Kenyans for a number of reasons.

A number of Kenyans prefer taxis to other modes of transport because of the comfort that comes with it as compared to matatus and even boda boda. They are convenient and faster, and that is why some would rather dig deeper in their pockets to enjoy such cool rides.

Services of these companies have been improved to an extent that one is able to identify which taxi is nearby so that he/ she can request their services just by the use of mobile apps.

Each company is struggling hard to ensure that they offer the best of their services to customers so that they can retain them in future. Below are taxi operators that have been highly ranked in Kenya

1.Uber

Uber was introduced in the country back in 2015. The company has its roots in the US but has been rated as the best taxi operator in Kenya.

The operator has three options that customers can select while requesting for cabs through their mobile app. There is the Uber select which is the most expensive, Uber x and Uber chap chap which is the cheapest.

2.Bolt

The taxi operator was previously known as taxify. It is another popular operator in Kenya and began operations in the country in 2016. The taxi operator was first launched in South Africa.

Bolt too has a mobile app that has made it easier for customers to access their services. Sources indicate that the operator charges customers Kshs2.3 per minute

  1. Little cabs

Little cabs was  also launched in 2016, in partnership with Safaricom and Craft Silicon. It also has three options consisting of  basic, comfort and ladybug.

The ladybug option consists of a female driver which is safe for female customers especially at night. The taxi operator charges Kshs 55 per kilometer.

  1. Delight Cabs

The taxi operator that was introduced in the country in 2009 offers services ranging from airport transfers, pick and drop transfers, conference transfers, staff transport, group transport and even self-drive car hire and leasing services.

Customers easily book online for the services they want.

  1. Kentaco Services Limited

Kentaco has been offering taxi services in the country for a long time compared to other operators.

The company  is based in Nairobi but has branches in Kisumu, Mombasa and Eldoret.

  1. Absolute Cabs

The cabs were introduced back in 2006. The company aimed at providing cost-effective, efficient and reliable  transport services to customers.

  1. Universal cabs 

The company operates in Nairobi, Kisumu, Kakamega, Mombasa and Eldoret. They also offer 24-hour services to  both individuals and corporate companies.

The company’s vehicles are fitted with two-way radio communication gadgets, Stoic Global Positioning Systems for easy tracking of the vehicle in case of an emergency.
