Raila Hosts China’s Ambassador, Discusses BBI and Covid-19 Vaccine

Kenyan Opposition leader Raila Odinga today hosted a delegation from China led by the China’s ambassador to Kenya Mr. Zhou Pingjian.

The leaders paid a courtesy call to Raila at his Capitol Hill offices in Upperhill. While there, they discussed a number of issues ranging from Covid-19 vaccine and the recently released Building Bridges Initiative. They also touched on the ongoing American election and its impact to the rest of the world.

Ambassador Zhou restated his country’s resolve of taking the frontline in a bid to invent an effective drug for the pandemic. Consequently, he assured the AU Infrastructure chairman that the vaccines will be availed to Africans at a cheaper cost.

The ambassador also assured Kenyans of frequent support in the field of industrial development to enhance productivity in the region. On his side, Mr. Odinga advocated for the resumption of joint cooperation to address serious global matters. Specifically, Raila cited contemporary world affairs such as climate change and the ravaging Coronavirus.

Furthermore, the opposition leader urged the Chinese Ambassador to continue supporting the infrastructural development in the region. He also seized the opportunity to explain vividly the contents of the BBI report that was released by the Taskforce. He reiterated the need for Kenya to hold a referendum in order to realize meaningful reforms.
