A police constable at Madungu police patrol base in Ugunja died after he allegedly shot himself on Monday morning.
The police officer, Dennis Gitonga shot himself in the neck, leading to serious injuries.
Ugunja Sub-county police commander Lazarus Taarus said police officers at the station heard a gunshot and onrushing to the scene, they found their colleague on the floor.
The police constable’s gun was found lying beside him.
The officer was later rushed to the nearby hospital, Ambira sub-county hospital but passed while on the way to Siaya County Referal Hospital where he had been referred.

- His body was then moved to the Ambira sub-county mortuary.
The investigations into the issue are still underway.
