President Uhuru Kenyatta has clipped his deputy, William Samoei Ruto with his next power move bent on reminding Ruto who is really boss.
The president of the Republic has made an executive order abolishing the Presidency and instead put the office of the Deputy President under the office of the President.
As it stands now, Deputy President, William Ruto will no longer have the power to hire and fire his own staff, that privilege and honor have been designated to the head of public service effective immediately.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 132 (3) (b) of the constitution, as read with all other enabling laws, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, president and commander-in-chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, order and direct that;
1. The government shall be organized as set out in this order, that this order contains portfolio responsibilities and changes made in the structure of government
2. That this order assigns functions and institutions among ministries and state departments and that this order supersedes Executive Order No. 1 of 2018 (Revised) issued in July 2018,” the document read.
Kenyans were amazed by the bromance displayed by the two powerful people in the country at the Madaraka Day celebration on 1, June 2020.
Political pundits believed that the tension between Ruto and Kenyatta were mending their differences after they were seen together but all the assumption have been thrown out of the window now that William Ruto’s right-hand man, Moses Kuria is scheduled to be axed from his position in the Jubilee party, there is a high chance Moses Kuria won’t survive the purge.
The Deputy President, William Ruto hasn’t made any statement about Uhuru Kenyatta’s move to take away as much power from him as he can.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s latest move to have the office of the Deputy President under the office of the President is something that nobody saw coming.
