Uhuru Furious With Ruto’s Misrepresentation Of Facts

Date:

In a closed-door deliberation with his allies in Naivasha on Monday, President Uhuru Kenyatta said there will be no more talk on the BBI report, according to sources.

According to the President, there was enough time for everyone to present their proposals to the task force.

President Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga ruled out any changes to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report ahead of the January referendum.

Sources who were at the meeting told a local daily that the President was furious about Deputy President William Ruto’s “misrepresentation of fact” in the report yet he was involved in all the steps of the BBI process.

The President reportedly accused his deputy of spreading misrepresentation about the handshake yet he helped him select the task force members.

“He said Uhuru and Raila were to nominate seven members. The President shared his with Ruto 4-3. The President was bitter and maintained that we should prepare for a referendum,”  a member of the parliamentary leadership team who attended the meeting Nation.

The source further noted that the President told the legislatures that Ruto was part of the “handshake” and was even invited at the Harambee House but declined.

“These people (DP’s camp) are just trying to employ delaying tactics,” the President was quoted as saying according to Nation Africa.

The source added that the President said there is no going back as far as the report is concerned as it was aimed to achieve inclusivity. He, therefore, mandated the MPs to mobile support in their constituencies.
