Tragic Voi Road Accident Claims 12 Lives

In a devastating incident at Ndii area in Voi, Taita Taveta County, at least 12 lives were tragically cut short in a horrific road accident. The accident, involving a Nissan shuttle and a lorry, occurred in the late afternoon, casting a pall of sorrow over the local community.

The collision, which proved fatal for all involved, happened at approximately 4:20 pm when the two vehicles met head-on, leaving no chance for survival. The scene was one of chaos and despair, as first responders rushed to the accident site, struggling to comprehend the scale of the tragedy.

Voi OCPD (Officer Commanding Police Division) Bernstein Shari, who was at the scene, confirmed the sad news to the media. He reported that a total of 12 individuals had lost their lives in the accident, while two others sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

“We are currently at the scene. So far, I can confirm 12 deaths and two injuries. We are organizing transportation of the deceased bodies to the morgue, and the injured are already receiving medical care at the hospital,” Shari solemnly stated.

The ill-fated shuttle involved in the accident belonged to the Genesis company and was en route to Mombasa at the time of the tragic collision. The sudden and devastating loss of life has left the community in mourning, as they grapple with the shock and sorrow that this horrific incident has brought upon them.

In the aftermath of the accident, the lifeless bodies of the 12 victims were transported to the Moi Referral Hospital morgue in Voi, where grieving families and loved ones are now faced with the heart-wrenching task of identifying their dear departed.

Meanwhile, the injured survivors of this harrowing ordeal are currently receiving medical treatment at Moi Referral Hospital in Voi, with hopes for their swift recovery.
