Three People Injured Fatally After Police Sprayed Bullets On Their Car

Date:

Police in Kericho were forced to spray bullets on a vehicle that was carrying people suspected to be robbers.

This is after they refused to stop when they were flagged down by police officers.

According to the Kericho County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO), John Onyango, the vehicle had five occupants who were suspected to be part of a gang that had staged a series of robberies at Kericho town.

The police engaged the robbers in a chase and caught up with them at Kapsuser Trading Centre on the Litein – Sotik road.

The robbers had been given a number of orders to stop prompting the chase.

“Today morning, we laid an ambush at the Kapsuser Trading Centre. When our officers challenged them to stop, they defied the orders, leading to the chase. Unfortunately, three of the suspects were fatally injured, and two sustained gunshot wounds,” Onyango said.

According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations the suspects were in a saloon car whose number plates had been tampered with.

Detectives say that the suspects had manipulated the registration number by the use of a black tape.

Elsewhere, Police in Garissa recovered 203 rounds of ammunition following a tip off from members of the public.

Police believe that the ammunition was to be used for criminal activities but the suspects managed to escape.

Police are currently looking for the suspects and so far three people from the nearby houses were picked for questioning.
