State House staff are now working away from their normal work stations after a number of them tested positive for Covid-19.
Reports indicate that the President’s staff are currently working from KICC, NHIF, and Harambee Annex
Those working away from State House include accountants, human resources, procurement, administration, and communication officers.
It is said the team has been scaled down and is now working in shifts to curb the spread of the virus.
Same as his employees, the President has also moved from State House and is currently operating from his Harambee House Office under tight security.
State House Controller Kinuthis Mbugua has also moved to Harambee House where he is working with a very lean team.
Staff and families who have remained in State House have been put under tight security and are not allowed to leave. Visitors are also not allowed to enter the premises.
Those who live at State House are reported to be relying on basic items supplied by trucks from supermarkets.
“Public health officials are monitoring affected families and their close contacts, in line with regulations of the Ministry of Health as outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO),” a source told the Star.
When called to comment on the issue, State House spokesperson Kanze Dena refused to respond.
These changes come after the second team of four State House officials were admitted at Kenyatta University Hospital after testing positive of coronavirus.

Top State House official told a local publication that senior officials preferred to be admitted to private hospitals.
“We have to call KU hospital so they are admitted to a special ward so that they don’t mix with other patients. However, others are admitted in private hospitals across the city,” the official told the Star.
