County Chiefs Considering Running For MP To Reap From BBI Goodies

Some second term governors are considering running for the MP in the next general election to make it easier for them to lobby for Cabinet Secretary positions.

The Governors are planning to benefit from the BBI proposal that Cabinet Secretaries be appointed from the National Assembly.

Some of the governors that are if the idea are the second term governors and those who have found the going getting tough in their respective counties.

Sources say Governors riding on the BBI wave are working hard to undo the damage in their backyard where supporters have promised to punish him should he vie for the parliamentary seat.

Some of those governors are said to be in need of political power to given them immunity from their past deeds.

The BBI proposal wants the premier to picked by the President from the MPs in the majority party in Parliament,

The other proposal also wants the reintroduction of the Official Opposition and a mixed Cabinet drawn from both parliamentarians and technocrats.

if the report is approved, Cabinet Secretaries will be known as Cabinet Ministers.

The BBI also proposes that Principal Secretaries, the technocrats running ministries, be excused from parliamentary approval to avoid “politicization of the public service”.

With such proposals, the governors who have seen a dead end in their political journey will try to switch gears and come to the parliament to get the proposed positions by the BBI.
