Salasya Responds To EACC Summons, Claims Kakamega Governor Is Involved

Date:

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has responded after being summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC).

Speaking on Sunday at Eluche, the controversial politician blamed Kakamega governor Fernandes Barasa for his woes, adding that EACC never summons people because of assault.

“When you are doing a good job they cannot be happy for you. This is politics, have you ever heard one being taken to EACC because of an assault case? I have a case in court and you are taking it there (EACC),” Salasya said.

“I know the person doing this is this one (Governor Barasa). I want to tell the governor to do his job and let me do mine. I respect you, stop frustrating me. My only problem was KMTC and Mumias Sugar. I have let him be,” he added

At the same time Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe, told him that he was being summoned because of ethics as EACC is mandated to oversight conduct of public servants.

“EACC is not summoning on corruption, it is on ethics. We must put things to order,” Wangwe noted.

Salasya is supposed to present himself at EACC offices on January 23, 2024 for assaulting  Malaha-Isongo-Makunga Member of County Assembly (MCA) during a funeral.

In a letter dated January 16, 2024, EACC  CEO Twalib Mbarak asked Salasya to appear before the commission for an interview and record a statement over the case.
