Rufftone Reveals Why He Chose To Remain Broke When Other Artistes Were Being Recruited Into Wash Wash

Gospel musician Roy Smith Mwita alias Rufftone would be stinking rich by now as he was offered chance to join wash wash business way back before it was exposed to the public.

Wash wash business involves fake gold scams, money printing and several other dubious deals involving billions of shillings.

The wash wash business is an intricate web of cartels who are well connected in the government and as such they even kill with impunity when betrayed.

The late Kevin Omwenga is one such example who was killed for allegedly leaking information about a wash wash deal.

Speaking during an interview on Classic FM – during the launch of his brother Daddy Owen’s “CHAPTER IV” album – Rufftone said was approached by wash wash cartel and offered a lucrative deal that would have seen him earn millions.

Rufftone he was approached by the wash wash cartel at a time when so many other artistes were being recruited and made millions.

The gospel singer however stressed that he managed to overcome the temptation of joining wash wash cartel because of the integrity instilled in him by his parents, a virtue that makes him not to take shortcuts in life.

“I thank God because my parents told us it was hard to get easy money, you have to work hard. The gospel industry was at stake and I was tempted. I want money. And was it easy money? Yes! it was easy and it was millions of money but we did not fall into the trap so that we can come out today and justify that the challenge is not new,” said Rufftone.

He also took to social media to advise his fans to steer clear of the wash wash cartel;

“Here is unsolicited advice to the young people. STAY AWAY from shortcuts. When I was younger I was approached. I said NO not because it was easy but because it was difficult.
They will exploit your vulnerability, They easily target young men/women from a single parent background, they target the orphans or any young Kenyan who is emotionally orphaned and bitter with a point to prove.

“Don’t be a victim…MTU ASIMWAYE KEMIKAL KWA FUTURE YAKO PLEASE. TRY JESUS…HE IS ENOUGH TO SAVE YOUR LIFE AND BOOST YOUR SELF ESTEEM.PEACE.”

Wash wash fraudsters usually target well known celebrities or politicians to launder their illegally obtain money.

Wash wash guys open high-end salons, petrol stations, nightclubs, liquor stores etc. for celebrities and then use those businesses to hide the origins of their money.

They give those businesses millions of shillings which they would then deposit in banks as ‘profit’ and fool the government and the financial institutions on the true origin of those monies – money laundering 101.
