Raila Odinga Questions DP Ruto’s Source Of Wealth, Claims He Spends Kshs100m Monthly

Date:

ODM party leader Raila Odinga has claimed that DP William Ruto spends about Ksh100 million monthly in campaigns.

The former prime minister questioned DP Ruto’s source wealth since his salary can not meet his campaign budget.

Speaking during the Azimio la umoja campaign in Trans Nzioa, he said that Ruto’s monthly salary does not exceed Kshs2 million yet he is always on a spending spree.

“He buys vehicles for bishops and pastors. In a month, he uses Ksh100 million yet his salary is only Ksh2 million. Where does he get that money? That is unlawfully obtained money,” Raila said.

He promised to end unlawful ways of acquiring money when he ascends to power, adding that he would recover all lost public funds and invest them in government projects.

He further said that he would support maize farmers and rescue them from greedy middlemen that have duping them over the years.

“Farming is always a subsidized business across the world. The government subsidies prices so that its citizens can have enough food and the farmers can get enough money,” the former prime minister stated.

The ODM leader said that he will announce his presidential bid in December 9, 2021. He is expected to face DP Ruto in the presidential race in the general elections slated for August 9, 2022.

Reports indicate that the former prime is being backed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to clinch the government’s top position come next year.

A research by TIFA however indicated that Ruto still leads in the presidential race even though his support has gone down by 1% while Raila has gained by 15%.

Ruto is leading with 38% while Raila is following him with 23%. ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi comes in third with two per cent followed by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka at one per cent.
