A drunk Nairobi county Kanjo askari was captured on camera harassing revelers at night in one of the entertainment joints in the city.
According to a video shared on social media, the officer threatened to take action against the joint because it was in her powers to do so
“Do you have a license for this place, do you have covid restrictions of this place? Record me, I am an inspectorate police of Nairobi County,” she said.
One of the revelers could be heard questioning who she was and where was her identification but that only worsened the situation
“Who are you to ask who I am,” the agitated Kanjo officers hit back, adding that she would come with her ID the following morning.
The drunk Kanjo officer had a male companion who also claimed that he was the cop. He tried to intervene calming her down but she was so keen on causing trouble.
She went ahead and accosted the female reveler who had questioned her, demanding that she surrenders her phone and purse so that she could search her.
“Show me, do you have drugs in your phone, I am searching her, record me post in the internet, I am allowed, power of arrest, power of search , power to enter any premises, this is a premises,” she said as those around tried to stop her from harassing the woman since she became extreme. The victim demanded her not touch her again.
“I am a law enforcement officer, Shillah Chepkoech, ” she eventually introduced herself on the camera revealed her payroll number. She went on to claim that the woman she was searching had abused her but she was the one who could be heard throwing insults
She also threatened to hold accountable whoever was recording her.
It has since been established that the woman in the video is a direct entry officer employed in 2020 and not from the inspectorate departed as she was claiming. She is said to be based at the Green park CCTV section.
