Police on Saturday stormed a meeting convened by Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula at Malava MP Malulu Injendi’s home.
The meeting was organized by the Western leaders to strategize on the political direction the region will take ahead of the 2022 presidential poll.
During the meeting, a contingent of anti-riot officer placed roadblocks along the Kakamega-Malave road cutting off the traffic to the home of MP Malulu Injendi.
The officers were compelled to use teargas canisters to disperse the crowd that was heading the MP’s home.
The Bungoma Senator, Moses Wentang’ula together with a group of other leaders later converged at the Kakamega Sports Club after attending the burial of Luanda MP Christopher Omulele’s mother.
According to the Western Regional Police Commander Peris Kimani said the purported meeting could not continue because it went against the Covid-19 guidelines put by the Ministry of Health.

“I have given firm instructions to the county commanders in Vihiga and Kakamega to enforce the law and ensure the guidelines are observed by everybody. We will not allow the meeting to proceed,” said the police boss.
Several other Western Leaders including former National Assembly chief whip, Benjamin Washiali, managed to have access to the home of Mr. Malulu.

The hosting MP, Mr. Malulu said they won’t be intimidated by the move by the police to stop the planned meeting at his home.
“We have made choices and we know choices have consequences. There is no turning back in our crusade to back a presidential candidate of our choice,” said Mr. Malulu.
