Former Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga attracted the ire of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) after he tried soliciting money from the public using a paybill.
Mutunga was marshaling Kenyans to contribute to his friend Boniface Mwangi whose house in Lukenya, Machakos county was allegedly ‘bombed’.
Boniface Mwangi claimed that Machakos governor Alfred Mutua bombed his house which is under construction following their beef.
Willy Mutunga decided to call on Kenyans to help Boniface Mwangi rebuild his house following the ‘bombing’.

However, KOT noted that Boniface Mwangi’s house didn’t suffer extensive structural damage to warrant a paybill.
The activist exaggerated the damage on his house making people think the whole building was on the verge of collapse.
However, photos shared online after police visited the scene to gather evidence showed that the damage was not as bad as Boniface portrayed it.
Angry KOT blasted Willy Mutunga saying he was trying to extort the public with the paybill yet the damage on Boniface’s house is minor.
Most people expressed their frustrations with the former Chief Justice terming his plea for financial help as conmanship.
Mutunga was savagely roasted with some critics even claiming the ‘bombing’ never happened that it was just Boniface Mwangi’s strategy to seek public sympathy and extort money from them.
