Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Tuesday, November 14 announced the death of former nominated senator Godliver Omondi.
Until her death, Omondi was nominated Member of the County Assembly (MCA) in Kakamega.
ODM eulogized her as a dedicated and determined leader who helped popularize the party at both the grassroots and national levels.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing on of Hon. Godliver Omondi, a former ODM Nominated Senator and MCA Kholera Ward in Matungu Constituency and currently until her death she was a Nominated MCA in Kakamega County Assembly,” ODM’s eulogy read in part.
“She was a dedicated member of the party,” it added.
The cause of her death was however not made public by the Raila Odinga-led party.Â
Other leaders also mourned the lawmaker including Gilgil MP Martha Wangari who expressed shock at her passing.
Wangari stated that Omondi championed the rights of the people living with disabilities in the country.
“Saddened by the death of Sen Godliver Omondi who I served with in the 11th Parliament as nominated senator. Sen Omondi went on to be an elected MCA in Kakamega County breaking a glass ceiling for PWDs. Rest in peace Senator,” Wangari wrote.
