The eldest son of the late Mwai Kibaki Jimmy Kibaki has been forced to distance himself from DP William Ruto’s Camp, Kenya Kwanza.
Jimmy was forced to declare his political stand following statements from numerous pseudo social media accounts purporting to be his, that have linked him to the second in command.
In a statement he released on Friday, Jimmy asked Kenyans to ignore the fake reports being spread by imposters claiming that he supports DP Ruto.
“It has come to my attention that there are several fake Twitter accounts impersonating me, and purporting to imply that I support the Kenya Kwanza political formation. I would like to take this opportunity to inform Kenyans that they should ignore all fake and preposterous announcements emanating from these delinquent imposters,” Jimmy said.
He revealed that he is completely loyal to president Uhuru Kenyatta because of the relationship that his family and that of Kenyatta have had for over 60 years.
“Any right-thinking Kenyan who understands the 62-year relationship between the Kenyatta and Kibaki families will know that my loyalty to President Uhuru Kenyatta is sacrosanct, and our 50-year-old friendship endures,” Jimmy noted.
On matters of the August 9 general elections, Jimmy said he will not disclose the candidate that he will vote for since voting is done by secret ballot.
“As to who I will vote for in the upcoming presidential election in August…as the voting is by secret ballot, my vote is, as it is for my fellow citizens, my secret,” Jimmy said
A spot check on Twitter shows there are about 10 accounts under the name Jimmy Kibaki with most of them bearing his image as their profile picture. Some of them were created just recently.
