Meru Police Officers Implicated In Yet Another Chilling Murder Of A Bodaboda Rider

Date:

The Inspector general of police Hillary Mutyambai has ordered the investigations into the death of a bodaboda rider in Meru county.

Reports have shown that Mr. Patrick Koome, the victim, was murdered for allegedly stealing someone’s motorbike.

It was during the police inspections to know who might have stolen the bike, that it is said that the rider met his death. Speaking on the unfortunate incident, the Inspector General of Police urged the general public to remain calm as the investigations would be conducted to unearth the root cause of the death of Mr. Koome.

“The National Police Service is saddened by an incident in Igembe North where a police officer has fatally wounded Mr. Patrick Koome, a bodaboda rider. The incident happened during an operation to apprehend the said victim who had allegedly stolen the motorcycle and was on the run,” they tweeted.

This comes even before the dust could settle about the two boys who were brutally murdered by the officers in Embu County for allegedly violating curfew rules – by walking past the set 10.00 PM curfew time. It is against such live memories that the locals may not sit down and watch when another death has occurred – again, on the hands of the same culprits:  the police.

The 22-year-old Benson Njiru Ndwiga and 19-year-old Emmanuel Mutura Ndigwa were arrested by police for allegedly breaking a Covid-19 curfew protocol, only for their bodies to be discovered two days later by family members at the local morgue, in Embu County.

The Inspector general of police Hillary Mutyambai has since ordered a speedy investigation to be conducted by the Internal Affairs Unit, whose findings shall guide on the next course of action.

Many young ones have died at the hands of police officers – and it is yet to be seen of a single case that has pinned down any rogue officer for the unlawful acts.
