Makueni Residents Demand Ruto To Show Them Wote Stadium That He Promised In 2017 Campaign

Date:

“In six months’ time, the stadium in Wote will be complete,” those were Ruto’s words in June 2017, Makueni residents reminded him of his promise on Thursday when he campaigned there.

While a launching the 2017 Jubilee manifesto in Kasarani, Ruto promised Kenyans nine new stadia in a period of less than a year.

Ruto who had admitted that they had not delivered on the five stadiums project they pledged in 2013, said plans were underway to construct 11 world class stadiums.

“In six months’ time, the stadium in Wote will be complete. In three months’ time the stadium in Chuka will be complete. In three months, the stadium in Moyale will be complete. In six months’ time, the stadium in Kamariny in West Pokot which is historic will be complete. In a couple of months the stadium in Eldoret will be complete. In Nyeri the president gave the title, there was a challenge on title now we have a title and now the program has been rolled out.

“In Kiambu in another three, four months the stadium will be complete. We have a small challenge in Mombasa because the county government has issues of ownership of land although all the contracts and everything has signed for including the tartan for the stadium. We have a small challenge again in Kisumu because the county government has not relocated the dumping site which is next to the stadium and international requirements dictate that you cannot have a dumping site side by side with a stadium. As soon as that is relocated that process will be complete. So instead of five stadium we actually went for nine, just to make it good and to make it better,” Ruto said.

Fast forward to Thursday December 9th, Ruto took his campaign to Makueni county and some residents were bold enough to ask him about the Wote stadium which he promised would be complete by December 2017.

Resident carried placards demanding Ruto to show them the Wote stadium he promised them during 2017 election campaigns.
