LSK’s Havi Officially A Politician, Here Is The Seat He Will Be Vying For In 2022 Elections

Date:

The Law society of Kenya President LSK Nelson Havi has made it official that he has embarked on a political career days after announcing his resignation.

Havi who is still serving as the 49th president of LSK before resigning has announced that he will be vying for the Westlands parliamentary seat in the coming general elections.

Through a tweet, Havi said that what he has not achieved as LSK’s president will be achieved when he is finally elected as a Member of Parliament.

“Good morning Friends. What I have not done through LSK I propose to accomplish through legislation and oversight in Parliament as Member of National Assembly for Westlands Sub-County. Register as a voter and let us do this,” Havi tweeted.

Havi will now battle with ODM’s Tim Wanyonyi who is the current holder of the position in the August 2022 elections. Wanyonyi has served as Westland’s MP since 2013.

Havi recently announced that he was only left with one role at LSK before finally resigning. According to him, LSK’s Special General Meeting would be his final assignment as the president.

“The 24-9-2021 LSK SGM will be my last assignment as President. We will constitute the Elections Board and approve IEBC to conduct elections on 17-3-2022,” he said.

He further mentioned some of LSK’s achievements under his leadership.

“With over 20 Judgments against Government, advisory for dissolution of Parliament and stop of BBI we have done enough.” he said.

Havi was elected as the president of the lawyers’ body in February 27, 2020 to serve on a two year term after defeating lawyers Harriette Chiggai, Maria Mbeneka and Charles Kanjama.

It is however not yet clear the political party that the lawyer will join to as to help him achieve his political dream.
