The Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru is not out of the woods yet after a section of Kirinyaga MCAs vowed to remove the governor days after the Senate reversed their decision.
On June 29th, 2020 MCAs in a press conference shared their plans of impeaching the Governor for the second time around.
The MCAs reiterated that the Governor would disregard the law because she survived the impeachment despite all the accusations leveled against her.
“In the words of Fred Van Lente, If there are no consequences to your mistakes, there is no reason not to make them,” the press statement read. “We now understand your nonchalant attitude towards the rule of law,”
“Neither your deep pockets nor your influence, will desist our pursuit of justice for the people of Kirinyaga. So help us God,”
This is despite Council of Governors Chair Wycliffe Oparanya asking MCAs to shelve plans to impeach county bosses.
“What are saying is that all these money MCAs are spending in hiring lawyers, why can’t we use them to buy PPEs, test kits and expansion of bed capacity?” Oparanya argued.
