Joe Boy Speaks Months After The Alcohol Challenge Almost Got Fatal

Date:

Nigerian artist Joseph Akinwale Ankinfenwa alias Joe Boy has spoken about the alcohol challenge that nearly got fatal about 2 months ago.

Alcohol is a song that he released in September this year and the challenge was intended to promote it. However some of the netizens over deed the challenge by consuming different substances, some that were harmful.

Speaking to Kiss FM, the artist said that his intention was not to cause harm to people when he released the song.

He added that people portrayed the song in a way that he had not planned.

“People are free to express themselves in any way they like but I just feel they portrayed the song in a way that I didn’t plan it to be. I made the song to give people hope and relax. It was not cool. I am not angry but I cannot control people. I can just advice so i had to put on Instagram you guys should stop doing this particular challenge,” Joe Boy said.

Speaking about the frequent attacks by comedian Eric Omondi on Nigerian artists, Joe Boy said that he is not bothered since he only goes where he is invited.

“People love me here and want to have me here…so I will go where the love is. I am not bothered about anybody trying to stop me. If I wasn’t wanted here I wouldn’t have been invited here,” Joe Boy said.

For the past few weeks, Eric has been bashing international artists for holding shows in the country when the Kenyan music industry is struggling. Eric has been against local curtain raising for the international ones and is demanding that local media play 75% of Kenyan music

The musician was in the country last weekend for the Afrojam festival.
