How President Uhuru Kenyatta Subjected Himself To A Lifetime Humiliation- Kabando Wa Kabando

Date:

Former Mukurwe-Ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando is calling upon president Uhuru Kenyatta to swallow his pride and congratulate his deputy William Ruto after the court declared him duly elected, just as decency and statesmanship demands.

Kabando, who unsuccessfully vied for the Nyeri senatorial seat on a Narc Kenya ticket , also revealed that Uhuru ignored their advice on keeping off 2022 politics, a move that saw him endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga as his successor. Raila unsuccessfully vied in the August 9 general elections.

“Rais Uhuru, Sir: Raila congratulated you upon the 2013 SCoK ruling. Raila joined you in 2018. Undeniably, UhuRUTO made you President 2013. You rejected our advice to keep off 2022. Common decency, gratitude, courtesy, STATESMANSHIP demand that you now congratulate President WSR. Do it,” he said in a statement.

According to him, by Uhuru refusing to show dignity in defeat by congratulating Ruto, he is giving a reason for his haters to humiliate him forever.

“Uhuru, Sir: you deserve quiet, respect in retirement. You’ve done your part, now time to move on. Don’t rub it in again. Don’t give your haters reason to ever humiliate you. Kenya has favored, privileged you in a most special way. Show honor, humility, dignity in defeat,” the former lawmaker said.

“Rais Uhuru, You’ve your highs eg your passion for regional integration and solidarity. You’ve your lows eg failure to reciprocate sacrifices for your stead, and failure to curb runaway graft, impunity, nepotism. Importantly, you have held our motherland together. God bless you,” he added.

In his speech after the Supreme Court dismissed the presidential petition, president Kenyatta said that he intends to oversee a smooth transition of power. He however did not mention or congratulate the president-elect in his speech even though it was expected of him.

“The process of handing over is in progress through the Assumption of Office Committee, which actually has already begun its work as of August 10, 2022. And indeed it is my intention to oversee a smooth transition to the next administration and all the necessary orders to facilitate this process have already been issued,” Uhuru said in part of his speech.
