From Boda Boda To  Deputy Governor Hopeful, Here Is An Interesting Story Of John Chimmo

Date:

John Chimmo, a boda boda rider based at Malaba, Busia County has left many Kenyans in utter disbelief after he was cleared by IEBC in readiness for the August 9 elections.

Chimmo is seeking to deputize Michael Oloo  if they win the hotly contested Busia gubernatorial race under the National Liberal Party.

He operates from the Malaba roadblock police post and has been a boda boda rider since 2008.

Chimmo uses his motorbike and the little resources he has to campaign from one place of the border county to another unlike the rest of gubernatorial aspirants and their deputy hopefuls doing rounds with  fleets of heavy machines.

“I am very much ready for it and I am sure we are going to take it,” he told reporters recently.

Many might have wondered if he met the qualifications that are putting several candidates across the country in difficult situations.

He, however, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Moi University in Business Management.

“I joined Moi university for a diploma. After a diploma, I enrolled at the same institution for a degree from 2012 to 2015. I graduated in December 2015,” Chimmo said.

After his undergraduate studies, he looked for a job but was never successful in getting one. The thought of being a politician had however never crossed his mind.

“Michael Oloo was looking for a running mate and he wanted a low class person that is learned. He came for the second time. I decided to speak to my parents, who advised me,” Chimmo said.

The deputy gubernatorial hopeful is married and has two children.
