Fresh Details Emerge On How Raila Lost Victory Both In Elections And Presidential Petition

Date:

As supporters of Raila Odinga come into terms with the Supreme Court ruling that dismissed petition challenging the election of William Ruto as the fifth president, Azimio allied blogger and Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai is now claiming that Raila did not clinch the country’s top seat because of refusing to give bribes so as to gain favor in the whole process.

According to him, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and agents of judges wanted to be paid but the Azimio leader did not give in to their demands.

“Proud of my party leader Raila Amollo Odinga. Chebukati demanded money, he said “NOT BRIBING.” Agents of judges demanded money, he said, “NOT BRIBING.” The politics of principles is archaic here but you have refused to budge. SALUT Baba @RailaOdingaWe will wake up late,” the blogger said.

Whereas Alai is claiming that bribes cost Raila victory, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi, who is also a supporter of Raila blamed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“MAYBE Raila was a DECOY. And Uhuru’s plan all ALONG was to hand over to Ruto. I say so because Uhuru acted SUB-OPTIMALLY in this election. He handed over his constituency to Ruto without a FIGHT. Then he DISABLED the deep state. Was this the Kumi-Kumi” PLAN? “ Ngunyi said after the ruling by the Supreme court.

While giving the ruling, Chief Justice Martha Koome however listed reasons as to why the petition was dismissed which include lack of satisfactory evidence to support the petition and forgery of documents.

Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu also revealed that many of the lawyers who participated in the petition kept calling the judges after the hearing of the petition came to an end as they drafted the ruling but they did not receive their calls.

On the other hand, Chebukati who spoke after the ruling said that the court had vindicated the commission.

“The election is a process not an event. Therefore, the Supreme Court judgment today is testimony that the Commission conducted a free, fair, transparent and credible General Election that met the democratic aspirations of the people of Kenya,” he said.
