Form Two Student Commits Suicide In Boyfriend’s House After Quarrel With Parents

Date:

A 21-year old student of Naburereya secondary school in Bungoma county is reported to have committed suicide after a quarrel with her parents.

It is alleged that Joan Wekesa hanged herself in her boyfriend’s house at Kabula market after her parents reprimanded her for not reporting back to school.

According to the deceased’s mother Praxides Wekesa,  she visited the place where her daughter spent the night after receiving information from neighbors.

“I was told by a neighbor that Joan had spent a night with a man who works at a local concrete making company but when I came and asked her she looked at me and kept quiet,” Praxides said.

She then left and went to inform the girl’s father but when they returned to the place, they found her body was dangling on a rope.

Her mother also said that her daughter who was in form two had previously threatened to take her life if they constantly pestered her to go back to school.

The body of the deceased was transferred  to Bungoma mortuary.

Elsewhere, a 65-year old woman is in police custody over allegations that she brutally killed her 99-year old husband.

Detectives in Kandara, Murang’a county have detained Margret Wanjiru Ndungu who is said to have killed her husband Ndung’u Mugachia by slitting his throat with a machete on Sunday morning.
