The induction of senators ahead of their parliamentary duties is going on at the L. Naivasha Sawela lodge in Nakuru county.
Nakuru senator Tabitha Karanja, the host, however did not miss the opportunity to ‘market’Â her business, Keroche breweries during the opening session of the induction.
In her welcoming speech, Karanja urged the senators to pay a visit to the brewer, which she said is the second largest in the country, and have first hand experience of technology that they have only been imagining or seen in other parts of the world.
“Naivasha we know it holds the second largest brewery in this country. It uses the latest technology in brewing. I welcome you also before you leave Naivasha this induction kindly visit the brewery because you will see what you only imagine, you see it in Europe and other parts of the world. As an industrialist, I worked there. I give you the best experience that you can have in a visit to a brewery,” Karanja said while mentioning some of the attractions and things that Naivasha as well as Nakuru county boasts of.
“Nakuru is a county of unlimited opportunities. It is the second largest in terms of contribution to the National GDP compared to the 47 counties as per the KNBS report,” she said.
The senator was recently elected the deputy majority leader of the Senate.
The 5-day induction is meant to help senators, especially those elected for the first time in the position, to understand their duties and roles and also equip them with ideas on how to effectively carry out their mandate.
