Safina party endorsed businessman Jimi Wanjigi as its presidential candidate in the coming general elections during the party’s NDC.

Members of UDA led by DP William Ruto were also present at the NDC that was held at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday.

Among leaders who accompanied the second in command include Laikipia women Rep Cate Waruguru and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.

While addressing delegates, Waruguu said that it was time to do away with dynasties and the remarks made DP Ruto wear a smile on his face.

“Hon. Jimi Wanjigi, you are very right, from the time Mzungu left this land, we have had the Odinga’s, we have had the Kenyatta’s and we have had the Moi’s. When are we going to get the chance to get one of us  as the president of the Republic of Kenya?” Waruguru posed.

According to Waruguru, the hustler nation is not just about being poor but it’s about the intentions to help, serve and bring change to the country.

“When we talk in this conversation it does not mean that we want people to be poor so that we can celebrate you. We are saying come as you are, you have a heart to help, serve  and for change and that’s why we are saying if it is time for liberation then we must join in. Bring light minded people together. The same way today we have Jimi Wanjigi, we have DP William Ruto and we have other great minded Kenyans here and we are saying it is Itweka moment,” she remarked

At the same time, Waruguru said that the conversation towards economic liberation is non-partisan and everyone should be involved so as to do away with the current economic crisis.

DP Ruto attended Safina party’s NDC days after Wanjigi also graced UDA’s at Kasarani indoor arena.

Safina is headed by Senior Counsel Paul Mwite who vied for presidency in 2013.
