Ruto was in the region for a women empowerment Harambee that was attended by key allies from the Mt Kenya region led by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Kirinyaga woman representative Wangui Ngirici.

The attacker, however, was no match to the plain-clothed officers who managed to pin him down; it was five men against one.

The Deputy President’s communications director, Mr. David Mugonyi denied the failed attack was an actual attack claiming that the man was a pure fan of the DP who wanted to give Ruto a packet of tea leaves as a gesture of goodwill.

William Ruto was called out recently by the Jubilee Party Vice-chairperson, David Murathe over his frequent visits to mount Kenya region calling out the DP over his insistence of taking his empowerment programs to mount Kenya as opposed to taking the empowerment campaign to his backyard, Rift Valley.

Murathe reiterates that he is concerned about the Mt. Kenya youth fearing that the DP is radicalizing them stressing on the point that he was wrong to thrive on the narrative of driving a wedge between the poor and the rich in the region, more so the entire country.
