A video of Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchmba Murkomen emerged on social media insinuating that he was campaigning for ODM leader Raila Odinga.
In the video shared by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Murkomen, who is a close ally of deputy president William Ruto, was heard saying “We know whom we are voting for, we are voting for Raila Odinga.”

He was speaking during the funeral of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua’s brother, James Reriani Gachagua. That however happened to be a slip of tongue judging from the original video of his speech.
Murkomen shared the original copy and he could be heard campaigning for the Kenya Kwanza team and neither Azimio la Umoja nor Odinga
“We know who Raila Odinga is. We know his record, he is a person who throws stones, he is a person who swore himself in when we had our own president, if he stands to speak, he will only talk about Kenya’s history and not where the country is being taken to,” Murkomen said.
The senator further took a swipe at Martha Karua’s nomination as Raila’s running mate saying that that does not change who he is.
“I am asking you, if you are brought a poisoned cake, with the icing of a lady will it change the poison that is inside that cake? It will not change that poison so we know whom we are voting for, we are voting for Raila Odinga. He can not confuse us by trying to put some cherry in the cake to confuse the people of Kenya, We are very clear in our minds” Murkomen said.
He used the opportunity to drum up support for Kenya Kwanza as a team that will make a great difference in the country.
“We are not voting for Rigathi Gachagua and William Ruto, no, we are voting for the team that has William Ruto, Rigathi Gachagua, Musalia Mudavadi, Weta, Nyeri governor, and all the others in our country. We are the team of future, team of change, team of economy, they are the team of changing the constitution,” he said.
