Controversial Embakasi Member of Parliament Babu Owino has ordered Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to release Bobi Wine.
Through his Facebook post, the legislature said that Museveni should desist from frustrating the ambitious politician. According to Babu Owino, Bobi’s only mistake is fighting for the Ugandan interests.
Babu Owino and Bobi Wine share some cordial relationship at a personal level. For instance, in 2018, Bobi Wine invited Babu Owino to Uganda for a three-day tour. While on the tour, the two leaders met University Students across Uganda and also held political rallies in a bid to preach Revolution.
Before that, the Embakasi member of parliament had invited the Uganda’s opposition legislature. He spent five days in Kenya before travelling back to Uganda via Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Bobi wine is one of the Presidential aspirant ahead of Uganda’s 2021 election. He was violently arrested earlier today by the Ugandan authorities and driven to unknown destination.
“The police used a hammer and broke the windows of his vehicle and forcefully dragged him out. They bundled him into their own vehicle and took off,” said the spokesman of the NUP Party Mr. Joel Senyonyi. He further added that he was not aware of why they arrested him.
The 38-year-old musician turned politician is hoping to end Museveni’s term after ruling for 34 years. The general elections will be held in February 2021.
