The Gunners are believed to have made initial contact over a potential move for Roma’s Amadou Diawara as the Mikel Arteta’s side look to reinforce their midfield.
Atletico Madrid man, Thomas Partey has for some time been Arsenal’s first-choice as they look to strengthen their midfield but football.london believe that Arsenal has also placed the Roma’s midfielder in their shopping list.
At this time though Partey remains Arsenal’s top priority but, Atletico is still adamant that they will only release him at £45million fee, which the Arteta’s side have to pay at once – alternative targets including Diawara has been listed but no official move has been made for the Guinea international.
Reports suggest that the North London club and Roma could negotiate a swap deal involving Diawara and Lucas Torreira. Torreira is believed might welcome the move to Italy and is of interest to Torino with Fiorentina and AC Milan reportedly keen.
Roma is said to be reluctant to release the 23-year old but securing Torreira as an alternative would soften their stand.
Diawara has made 31 appearances for Roma in all competitions last season. His contract with the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2024.
Arsenal’s search for midfield reinforcements has been complicated further by reports suggesting that Real Madrid could be prepared to hold on to Dani Ceballos for next season.
Arsenal is keen to complete a deal with Ceballos but Madrid would favor a sale this summer whilst the Gunners had been hoping to extend his loan spell.
