Charity Ngilu’s Head On The Chopping Board As MCAs Sign A Motion To Impeach Her

Date:

The perpetual love-hate relationship between Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and her MCAs has led to a fallout that has resulted in her impeachment.

According to Mivukoni MCA Boniface Kilaa Kasina, 40 out of the 56 members have signed to support the motion to impeach the governor as she has failed in her mandate to the development and breach of the Constitution.

“So far, 40 out of the 56 members have signed to support the motion to impeach the governor as she has failed in her mandate to the people of Kitui,” the MCA told the star.

Kasina added that the requisite number of MCAs required to support the motion was only 36, therefore, they had reached the threshold with the signatures.

From the numbers, the MCA is confident that Governor Charity Ngilu will be sent packing by the county assembly.

This comes after Governor Charity Ngilu met Boda Boda operators in Kitui town and urged them to frustrate the planned impeachment.

Ngilu claim the ward rep want to impeach her despite initiating various projects and even gave many residents a lifeline and steady source of income through the textile factory Kicotec.

Governor Ngilu has frequently asked the loads to help her mobilize enough signatures from all the 40 wards within the county to push for the recall of the elected MCAs as well as petition the president to dissolve the county government.

The county assembly Majority Whip Stephen Musili said the members won’t be intimidated by the futile calls to dissolve the county government.

According to the scheme by Ngilu and her cronies were just kicks of a dying horse and most MCAs have already decided to impeach her.

“We have no option but to impeach the governor. For the over two years she has been at the helm, she has failed to implement tangible development projects for which the voter elected us. We would rather get her out so that our county can develop,” Musili said.
