Nelson Havi Makes Promises To Westlands Constituents

Date:

The Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi is set to vie for the Westlands parliamentary seat in next year’s elections.

According to Havi, he will be vying for the seat because he believes that he is capable of serving and has no flaws.

“I am not going to parliament because I am looking for money. I am not going to hide money I have stolen before. I have no flaws. I am capable of serving,” Havi said in an interview with a local radio station.

He added that people living in Westlands constituency have been overlooked and are suffering.

“In Westlands, there is unemployment, there are no roads, hospitals, schools, especially in the poor neighborhoods. I saw the situation in Kibagare recently and wept a lot,” said Havi.

He further said that he is confident that he will bring development in the area while citing his achievement as the LSK president.

“When I go to Parliament, I will make sure that we have the right laws, that the National Revenue allocation benefits every region, that whatever the national government is doing is constitutional. Most importantly, I will ensure that Westlands is developed,” Havi said.

Havi was expected to face Tim Wanyonyi, who is the current MP for Westlands, in the race. Wanyonyi has however declared his interest in the Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat.

Wanyonyi will be contesting for the position under the ODM’s ticket if he succeeds in the party nominations. He served as the Westlands MP since 2013 and has the full support of ODM in his quest for Nairobi’s top position,

“We know and we are aware that you are one of the most respected public servants not just in this country but across the world. We are very proud of you as ODM because you provide an opportunity for what an ODM government would do,” ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna said when Wanyonyi declared his bid in serving as Nairobi governor.
