WhatsApp has unveiled a new ‘disappearing messages’ that will automatically delete messages after 7 days.
WhasApp users will have the option of enabling the new feature in conversations with their contacts, causing messages to be automatically deleted after seven days.
The disappearing messages feature works both in group and individual chats. In group chats, only group admins can turn disappearing messages on or off.
In an individual chat, users can either turn the disappearing messages feature on or off at their own pleasure.
To turn the feature on, you simply open up the WhatsApp chat > tap the contact’s name > select ‘Disappearing Messages’ > hit ‘Continue’ > select ‘On’.
To disable the disappearing messages feature, you simply follow the same instructions but hit ‘Off’ instead.

WhatsApp explained that if a user doesn’t open WhatsApp during this seven-day period, the message will disappear, but the preview of the message might still display in notifications until the app is opened.
The disappearing feature is not exclusively limited to text messages, WhatsApp has also applied the feature on photos, videos, audio files, location and documents.
Currently, the disappearing feature is only available in limited number of WhatsApp users but the Facebook-owned app will roll out the new feature to all of its users by the end of the month.
Note: You need to update your WhatsApp first to be able to use the new disappearing feature.
