Ruto’s Son Makes Inroad In Raila’s Backyard Wooing Residents With Harambees

Date:

Deputy President William Ruto’s eldest son Nick Ruto, who is making incredible political inroads to different parts of the country, was last Sunday warmly received at Raila Odinga’s backyard.

Ruto junior was the chief guest in a fund drive in aid of construction at Nyamasore Catholic church in Rarieda Constituency Siaya County an event where he managed to collect sh. 800,000 in an event that was snubbed by local politicians.

The venue was at Siaya, Raila Odinga’s home county, and Otiende Amollo’s Constituency and though the two kings are fierce anti-Ruto crusaders, Nick was gifted a sheep by ecstatic church members who requested him to frequently visit the area.

The lawyer-cum-entrepreneur started his well-planned nationwide tours that revolve around church fundraisers and youth empowerment programs immediately upon his admission to the bar, early this year.

Ruto, junior who throughout his trips is convoyed by not less than five friends mostly from Central Kenya or Nyanza, appears to be following his father’s political footsteps and understands that association with the Lake and Mt. Kenya region is vital for one’s political triumph.

In Siaya, he was hosted by businessman George Okello, and his close ally Victor Ayugi from Kisumu while he was accompanied by friends George Maina, Brian Mbuthia and Waihenya.

Nairobi-based political scientist Geff Mwangi, exclusively told County Post that besides, building networks, Nick is gradually learning the country’s political terrains, improving the art of public speaking and studying diverse cultures unlike the children of the political class who depend on family appointment and endorsements.

“This young man seems to be a brilliant and well-coached person who knows what he wants in life and where he is going. Instead of spending weekends in City’s suburb club to enjoy the vast wealth amassed by his father, he chooses to attend church fundraisers and interact with poor Kenyans in public forums” he said

A source said, he, has learned that for once political success in the country, he must learn the dynamics and cultures of the country’s two largest tribes and so he is doing so for his benefit and to woe friends in support of his father’s 2022 Presidential ambition.

He deliberately evades interaction with elected politicians but moves around with business-people and young individuals who have future political ambitions.

Nick asked Nyamasore believers to shun divisions along with ethnic, political and racial diversities, and choose to pride in their multiplicities as they focus on culminating enemies of development citing poverty and diseases.

“We are all Children of God and nothing should divide us. We have common problems and finding their solutions should bring us together” he said

He candidly reminded parents that children copy from them exactly what they do and if they desired good lives for them, their actions should reflect the same.
