Transfer Deadline: Telles Joins Man Utd, Liverpool Raid Spurs For A Goalkeeper And More Rumours

Date:

Manchester United have no intention of loaning out Brandon Williams despite the signing of Alex Telles from Porto in the transfer deadline.

Southampton are interested in the youngster but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to keep him at Old Trafford to continue his development.

Telles is set to sign for £13.5million and is currently undergoing his medical.

The 27-year-old will provide competition for Luke Shaw who has also struggled with injury in recent seasons.

Williams enjoyed his breakthrough campaign last time out and is highly-rated at Old Trafford.

Southampton are keen on a loan move but the Red Devils will not let the 20-year-old go anywhere before the 11pm deadline tonight.

Tottenham loan out Sessegnon

Ryan Sessegnon has joined Hoffenheim on loan from Tottenham for the remainder of the season.

The former Fulham man was down the pecking order following the arrival of Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho has made the decision to let Sessegnon leave and get first-team football.

The England Under-21 international will hope to make an impression in Germany.

Liverpool eye Gazzaniga

Liverpool have made contact with Tottenham over a swoop for Paulo Gazzaniga, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp has moved to sign a goalkeeper after the 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League which rocked the football world yesterday.

First-choice goalkeeper Alisson is out for up to six weeks injured with question marks over backup Adrian.

Gazzaniga is an option for the Reds who have made contact with Spurs to try and get a deal through before 11pm when the window closes.

The 28-year-old impressed last season in standing in for Hugo Lloris when he was injured.

Memphis Depay has agreed personal terms with Barcelona and could seal a move today, according to Lyon’s sporting director Juninho Pernambucano.

“It is possible that Memphis signs for Barcelona tomorrow, but it is not certain. He is the most likely to go. If he stays he will help us.”

The deal could free up Ousmane Dembele to move to Manchester United.

Everton sign Ben Godfrey

Ben Godfrey has completed his £30m move to Everton, after agreeing a five year deal with the Blues.

The England U21 international has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2025, and after undergoing a successful medical this weekend.

He said: “It is an honour to sign for Everton and to be part of a huge club. I am very thankful for the opportunity and I can’t wait to get started. The aim for me at Everton is to win trophies.

“I like to win. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I care and I am a passionate lad. The fans can guarantee they will get 110 per cent out of me when I am on the pitch.

“This is a club full of history that has an exciting team full of world-class players who will help me kick on to the next level. I am looking forward to working with them and, hopefully, having great times with Everton Football Club.”

Leeds have made a good start to the Premier League season and have seven points from four games.

Barcelona expecting Dembele call

Manchester United have spent the whole transfer window chasing a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, with the England international Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No 1 target.

However, late in the day, it appears the Red Devils will be forced to look elsewhere.

United don’t want to pay Dortmund’s eye-watering £108million price tag for Sancho, mindful of how that would look at a time where the coronavirus crisis remains ongoing.

Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele has emerged as a potential alternative.

Man Utd and Liverpool ‘need defenders’

Manchester United and Liverpool have been told they need to sign defenders after heavy defeats yesterday.

He told Sky Sports: “If you want to be successful, especially in the Premier League, you need to be strong at the back. Yesterday, what we saw from Man United and Liverpool, was the opposite.

“On Deadline Day, I think those clubs need to concentrate more on how they’re going to set up their defence for the rest of the season.

“It’s a long season, managers are going to have to cope with injuries and suspensions, but what we saw were like friendlies in July.”

West Ham give Declan Rice update

West Ham have insisted they have no interest in selling Declan Rice to Chelsea today.

“We haven’t been looking to replace him,” said assistant manager Irvine.

“We have been looking for players but we’ve not been looking for a replacement for Declan because we don’t have any intention of selling him.

“Every player in the world has his price, it would certainly be an extremely difficult situation for us if anything was to happen.

“But without having all the information I still don’t think that will happen.”

Moise Kean exits Everton for PSG

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insists he is being backed in the transfer market despite the failure to sign Thomas Partey or Houssem Aouar ahead of the deadline.

“I have 100% backing from them. It’s not just words, it’s reality.

“Whoever knows me, if it wasn’t like that I wouldn’t say it but I say it because I feel it and it’s true.”

Arsenal eye Jorginho

Arsenal want to sign a midfielder before the 11pm deadline with Chelsea’s Jorginho now top of their wish list.

The Gunners have all but ended their pursuits of Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar with Atletico Madrid and Lyon pricing them out of a move.

Chelsea would be willing to sell Jorginho but only if they are able to sign a replacement.

Frank Lampard would like West Ham star Declan Rice to be that man but negotiations will have to move fast today.
