Lawyer and activist Miguna Miguna has been thrown into mourning following the demise of his first cousin Dan Ong’or.
Miguna shared the news through social media where he said that Ong’or succumbed to cancer while in India, where he had gone to receive treatment.
“THE SADDEST NEWS of 2022. My first cousin, DAN OTIENO ONG’OR, has succumbed to cancer in India. Rest In Peace Wuod Gem Oremo,” Miguna shared on Twitter.
In December, Miguna had appealed to Kenyans to help in raising funds so that the deceased can receive treatment.
“Dan ONG’OR is my first cousin. He works for the Kisumu County Government. This sad news (cancer) arrived at my doorstep at the worst time. Please help out if you can,” Miguna said then.
Ongo’or was diagnosed with Metastatic melanoma. Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that begins from the cells that control the skin color. Metastatic melanoma therefore is a melanoma that spreads to other parts of the body through the lymphatic system and blood vessels.
By then the stage of the disease could not be established because there was no functional Pet scan in the country.
Following his loss, his followers have send him some comforting messages during the difficult moment.
“My sincerest condolences to you Daktari and the entire family. His soul rest in peace ,pole sana,” Bruno Ongore responded to the tweet.
“Pole, Daktari for the loss of your cousin. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers,” Roselyne Akombe wrote.
Others however went ahead to claim that Miguna would blame Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta for his loss.
“I’m sure you’d blame RAO and UK for your cousin’s death. Even your kid’s birthdays will be blamed on them. Your wife’s PMS too. Your granny blind eyes will be blamed on the “despot” and “conman”. Your bald head too will be a government issue,” Real Javix said.
“Sorry Mr. Miguna, watch out too, you could succumb to mouth cancer,” Mike Tonko said.
“So sad,rip bg u can use such chance to come back home,” Edwin Matho wrote.
