Wiper Senator Sylvia Kasanga Reveals Why Kalonzo Is Not Campaigning Like Raila And Ruto

Date:

Raila Odinga and William Ruto have staged massive campaigns across the country while Kalonzo Musyoka and others are just observing from a distance.

The political arena is dominated by Raila and Ruto who are the frontrunners in the 2022 presidential election.

Kalonzo and other OKA principals Musalia Mudavadi, Gideon Moi and Moses Wetangula have been heavily criticized for ‘waiting to be endorsed’ while their competitors campaign aggressively.

Wiper nominated senator Sylvia Kasanga has since revealed that Kalonzo is too broke to stage any serious campaign at the moment.

Kasanga made the statement while appearing on Citizen TV Day Break show on Tuesday October 19th with ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna, West Pokot governor John Lonyangapuo and Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka.

Senator Kasanga made it clear that Wiper lacks resources to spearhead its agenda forward. According to her, the party does not have resources for campaigns.

She claimed that Wiper had not received money from the Political Parties Fund which ODM was supposed to release to its former National Super Alliance (Nasa) partners.

Kasanga also requested Edwin Sifuna to support Wiper with funds so that Kalonzo can kick off campaigns across the country.

ODM received Ksh308 million from Political Parties Fund and agreed to release Ksh117.2 million to its former Nasa partners – Wiper, ANC and Ford Kenya.

ODM said they gave Kalonzo’s Wiper received Ksh70.4 million, Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC got Ksh43.8 million, while Isaac Ruto’s CCM took home Ksh3 million.

ODM, however, withheld Ksh36 million share for Ford Kenya which is embroiled in vicious internal power wars.

The former Nasa affiliate parties however cried foul lamenting that ODM kept the lion’s share of the money from Political Parties Fund.

But still the money received from Political Parties Fund is not enough to stage effective presidential campaign, Raila and Ruto’s election war chest is largely from donations from wealthy individuals who are funding their campaigns.
