“We Are Ready For You!” Jimi Wanjigi Cautions President Kenyatta, Blames Him For His Disqualification

Date:

Disqualified presidential candidates Jimi Wanjigi of Safina party, Ekuru Aukot (Thirdway Alliance) and Independent candidate Reuben Kigame have addressed the press a day after IEBC concluded the verification exercise of presidential candidates.

The trio are among those who were locked out of the race for failing to meet particular requirements with Wanjigi’s issue being failing to present a university degree certificate.

The businessman however accused president Uhuru Kenyatta of being behind their tribulations. According to him, president Kenyatta is attempting to silence any one who might be a threat to his intention of staying in power after the end of his term.

“The current head of state who is supposed to be exiting has decided he wants to extend his rule contrary to the Kenyan law and constitution. All we are getting here is nothing else but a very vicious attempt to stifle any voice that is going to stop the path of trying to illegally remain in power,” Wanjigi said in the joint press briefing that was held at Kwacha house.

The billionaire told President Kenyatta that he will not succeed  in his plans because he was aware of them way before.

“We want to tell the current head of state that you shall not succeed in muffling the voice of the people and giving the people the voice that [he] wants to speak for them in the ballot. These are lame attempts and some of us here were ready for you, we knew these things were going to come so we are ready for you. You have bad luck because we know the Kenyan law.

“You shall be defeated even here. There is no place that you have defeated us, you have been at it for the longest period and you have been defeated. The voice of the people is now beginning to be heard in large numbers,” Wanjigi stated.

He was to vie for presidency under the Safina party ticket.
