It seems most Kenyans such as Walter Mong’are want to fraudulently make their way into top political offices despite lacking the necessary academic requirements as stipulated by the law.
On Friday, Walter Mong’are had a difficult time explaining how he managed to get a degree in a record of 7 months. Even his own lawyer Dr. Alutalala Mukhwana was confused by the academic evidence that was availed by the presidential candidate.
“I cannot involve myself in answering academic matters of Walter Mong’are at Daystar University. It is only the officials at Daystar University who can explain more about his education there and the grades he acquired while learning.” Said Mukhwana.
Asked by IEBC commissioner prof Abdi Guliye how the candidate managed to transfer his credits from Kenyatta University to Daystar, Mong’are and his lawyer fumbled as they helplessly stared at one another.
The Umoja Summit Party leader Walter Mong’are alias Nyambane was disqualified from vying for the presidency by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Nyambane who had been given a green light to seek the country’s top seat, was barred after the electoral commission received fresh details regarding his university degree.
The aspirant had also failed to honor a summon by the IEBC where he was scheduled to shed more light about his alleged degree.
“As the chief returning officer, upon discovering new information on Walter Mong’are as relates to lack of academic qualifications, I invited him to appear before me today at 2 pm to clarify the issue. He failed to honor the invitation,” Chebukati noted.
“Pursuant to regulation 42 (2c) of the Constitution, I hereby revoke the nomination certificate of Walter Mong’are of the Umoja Summit Party dated June 2, 2022.”
Other presidential candidates who were disqualified by Chebukati include billionaire Jimi Wanjigi, Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot, Independent candidate Eliud Muthiora Kiriara and evangelist Reuben Kigame.
