Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has been accused of planning a disruption of his competitor’s interaction with the people session.
This is after UDA candidate for the Westlands parliamentary seat race Nelson Havi was on attacked while at Mountain view ward on Friday.
Rogue youths disrupted the former LSK president’s meet with the people session leaving one of his body with injuries on the neck and his eye.
Havi claimed that ODM’s Wanyonyi was behind the attack. According to him, the youths were dressed in his T-shirts and overalls. Some were carrying an Azimio la Umoja banner bearing the image of ODM leader Raila Odinga and the incumbent’s.
“The disruption begins at this corner to Gichagi. Edward Mahugi Ebura in the company about 20 young men and three women in Tim Wanyonyi’s overalls, T Shirts and aprons confront us in an effort to block us from moving ahead.
“The goons call for reinforcement of about 10 more young men in Tim Wanyonyi’s T Shirts. They block the road with motorcycles and an ODM banner bearing the portraits and campaign messages of Raila Odinga and Tim Wanyonyi,” Havi gave an account of the events that took place.
The rogue youths were chanting Wanyonyi’s names. Locals tried to intervene asking them to stop the interruption but it all fell on deaf ears.
“Tim Wanyonyi’s goons zero on me but my bodyguard on the right sustains the cover. It is after this point that they target him with blows and kicks on the shoulder and the neck,” Havi went on.

The matter was reported to the police and the bodyguard treated at MP Shah hospital.
Kenyans on Twitter have however found it hard to believe that it was actually Wanyonyi who who was behind the incident while demanding Havi to explain how he knew that the MP is responsible.
“If there is someone who has never & can never be violent is Tim Wanyonyi. For the years we have worked together, for the years he has been in politics, never has he ever paid goons to disrupt another meeting. Nelson Havi paid people to disrupt his own meeting. Juvenile politics,” Juma G said.
“Tim Wanyonyi is the SI unit of peace. To accuse him of hiring goons is propaganda in a quest for people to back you. Havi should first accept that in politics everyone cannot like you or your agenda. Ground ikikataa usiforce!” another Twitter user said.
“This was scripted in order to drive a narrative that Tim Wanyonyi is violent. We have seen it before when Sonko said that in 2017 they were wearing ODM tshirts and even burned Matatus to portray ODM as a violent party. tafuta script ingine,” read another tweet.
