Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala suffered a major blow on Wednesday after his mother dumped him for Raila Odinga’s candidate Ferdinand Barasa.

While speaking during the Azimio rally in Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega county, Malala’s step mother announced that she had officially dumped her son Cleophas Malala in favor of the ODM candidate.

“Nimetoka Kenya Kwisha nimekuja azimio kusaidia governor wangu barasa na savula ili county yetu iweze kuenda mbele na baba nakuhakikishia mumias west hautasumbukana ju Mumias yote ni Azimio.” She said.

This came in the wake of a past opinion poll released indicating that Ferdinand Barasa enjoys a support of 53.5% followed by Kakamega senator Hon Cleophas Malala at 39% who is a member of Amani National Congress (ANC) party and a supporter of Kenya Kwanza movement.

The poll also showed Hon Cyrus Jirongo from Azimio movement is the third most popular gubernatorial Candidate with a support base of 5.4%.

In the meantime, the Bukhungu meeting by the Azimio politicians came just a few days after kenya kwanza side were denied access to the stadium, with governor Oparanya explaining that the Kenya Kwanza wanted to use the facility for free without paying the required fee.

On his side, senator Malala complained that they used to pay Sh100,000 for the venue but they were asked to pay nine times the amount on Saturday.

“They told us to first pay Sh900,000 to use the venue. We negotiated with them and after we reached a deal they again told us the banks were now not working and that is how they locked us out,” he said in a phone interview with a local media house.

Consequently, the youthful senator vowed to hold a rally whether the county liked it or not but their efforts were thwarted by the hawk eyed security officers who were manning the stadium on the fateful day.
