An Eldoret-based teacher was treated to a rude shock after a TSC official followed him to the hospital to hand him his transfer letter.
Nelson Kirui had taken his wife to a deliver in a hospital in Nakuru. The officials travelled all the way from Eldoret to Nakuru just to hand him the letter.
Kirui who is a member of the Kenya National Teachers Pressure Group is among those who have been targeted by TSC in the recent transfers.
“You can imagine they had to bring my letter from Eldoret where I work, to serve me in Olenguruone, a distance of about 200 kilometres … so heartless,” Kirui stated.
The teacher said that the officials who handed him the letter did not believe that he had taken his wife to the hospital and demanded that he sends them a photo.
“He even called, asking me to share photos of my wife in the hospital bed to prove that she was hospitalized, but I refused to share the photos as that amounted to infringement of my privacy and that’s when they decided to drive to the hospital,” the teacher said.
The letter was delivered by the TSC Curriculum Support Officer Nicholas Ndar and his headteacher Silas Biwott.
“I requested them to come check on her but they refused. They said their mission was to hand over the letter. After handing over the transfer, they instructed their driver to take photos of the three of us as I was holding the letter,” Kirui narrated.
Kirui, a teacher at Kaptich Primary School, was transfered from Eldoret to Lamu
“The commission has decided that you be transferred from Uasin Gishu County to Lamu County with effect from November 17, 2021,” part of the transfer letter read.
