Veteran, youthful and fluent Citizen TV News anchor Trevor Ombija is set to join the upcoming Luo TV Station Ramogi TV
Ramogi TV will kick off on Monday 29th 2021 as from 6.30 PM, being the second vernacular television station to be launched by the SK Macharia owned Royal Media Services (RMS) after Inooro TV which went live in October 2015
According to a local publication, the launch of Ramogi TV is in line with the company’s desire to continue producing broadcast content to Kenyans in their first language.
It is also part of SK Macharia’s company strategy to consolidate and diversify its business across the country.
Ramogi TV will be a 24-hour channel with local programs targeting the Luo community just like the Inooro Tv which broadcasts in Gikuyu.
While launching Inooro TV in 2015, Royal Media Services Managing Director Wachira Waruru disclosed that a Luo TV station was being developed although it is not known why the project took this long.
While announcing vacancies for the Ramogi TV, the RMS in a recent advert urged interested applicants to share their short video clips and CVs to a whatsapp number 0704010101. The deadline for sending these requirements was on September 8th 2021.
According to a 2020 report by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK), Royal Media Services commands the largest market share in the country, being the pioneer of major local radio stations such as Mulembe FM, Wimwaro FM, Ramogi FM, Inooro FM, Musyi FM, Chamgei FM, Muuga FM, Egesa FM, Vuuka FM and Sulwe FM.
RMS also owns Citizen TV, Hot 96, Bahari FM and Radio citizen.
