Tragic Lunch: School Principal Hospitalized After Three Students Fell Into A Septic Tank

Date:

Three students of Our Lady of Mercy Girls High school in Busia are nursing injuries after falling in a septic tank while having lunch.

According to  Busia Deputy County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto, the students were seated  on the cover of the septic tank that is about 30feet deep when it collapsed.

“The top cover of the septic tank collapsed and they fell about 10 meters down. The team from the school managed to rescue the girls as quickly as possible. We brought in the security committee also to assess the condition of the girls,” he said.

He added that the victims were injured on their heads and legs but one of them broke her limbs during the accident and that it was a miracle that they survived since there was a snake in the tank.

Ruto further revealed that the principal of the school, who was not around when the incident occurred, went into shock after getting the information.

“Then the principal of the school got the sad news that the girls had fallen into the septic tank, she went into a shock. She is also hospitalized and is stabilizing,” Ruto said.

Doctor Aaron Orodi who is in charge of the facility where the students are receiving treatment said that they are in a stable condition.
