Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli has sent a late congratulatory message to US President-elect Joe Biden.
The Tanzanian President is among many autocratic leaders across the world who had reserved the sending their congratulatory messages to Biden.
In his message to the US President-elect, Magufuli assures Biden that Tanzania will continue to cherish the relationship that exist between US and the East African nation.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Tanzania, I congratulate President-elect
@JoeBiden and Vice President-elect @KamalaHarris on your victory in the US General Election. Be assured that Tanzania will continue to cherish the relationship that exist between our countries,” Magufuli tweeted on late Tuesday night.

Magufuli won the October 30th presidential election with a comfortable 84% of the vote while his main challenger Tundu Lissu managed 13%.
The Tanzanian election was plague by widespread cases of vote rigging and arrest of opposition politicians.
In the US, Donald Trump failed to secure a second term unlike Magufuli who won with a landslide victory in the highly disputed election.
Trump has refused to accept election results and has filed a series of lawsuits to challenge Biden’s win.
Magufuli and Trump have so much in common, the obvious being that the two leaders are autocrats while Biden is a liberal.
Biden like to speak his mind and once he is sworn-in he certainly won’t refrain from criticizing Magufuli who has stifled the democratic space in Tanzania.
